Amy Hubbard (Ph.D., University of Arizona, 1996) is interested in the study of nonverbal communication, conflict, deception, and relational messages. Currently, Dr. Hubbard is examining the role of expectations and the use of empathy during discussions of disagreements. She is also investigating how perspective-taking is behaviorally manifested during conflicts in dating relationships. She teaches a variety of undergraduate courses including public speaking, nonverbal communication, and interpersonal relations. At the graduate level, she teaches courses in communication theories, business communication, deception, conflict, and relational communication. Dr. Hubbard also provides seminars and workshops to the community on designing public presentations, creating effective PowerPoint slides, understanding messages beyond the words (nonverbal communication), and building stronger personal relationships.
Dr. Hubbard serves as graduate chair in the department.
