Michael Hamnett
Principal Investigator

Manages the HCRI resarch program, leads program planning and management. Active in the Ala Wai Partnership, previously directed the Research Corporation of the University of Hawaii.

Kristine Davidson
Program Director

Leads and manages HCRI program and staff. Has worked with HCRI since 1997 managing research efforts related to coral reef science and management.

Risa Minato
Program Manager

Coordinates and supports the management of the HCRI research program and staff. Leads projects related to coral reef grant implementation, day use moorings.

Marine Managed Area Planner

Leads research-focused projects supporting the development of coral resilience-based management strategies and the identification of new restoration techniques.

Makai Watch Planner

Builds relationships within DLNR and with communities through education and transparency.

Project Coordinator

Leads projects related to mooring buoys and identification and mitigation of marine debris around the Hawaiian islands. Coordinates with resource management agencies as well as community debris removal groups.

DOBOR Legal Research Specialist

Researches and revises legal terms the Division’s administrative rules. Drafts submittals to the Board of Land and Natural Resources for DOBOR rules and policies.

Supports multiple HCRI projects by creating GIS maps and writing reports. Projects have included reef restoration projects in Kaneohe Bay, the aerial imagery project tracking marine debris on Hawaiian coastlines, and the Day-Use Mooring Buoy (DMB) project.

Coral Habitat Monitoring Coordinator

Leads and executes field-based projects that investigate the impacts and benefits of the statewide Day Use Mooring Buoy (DMB) system to inform future management decisions.
