Financial Aid Information

Financial Aid

By Hettie Schofield, Financial Aid Coordinator

The Hawaii Community College Financial Aid Office has developed a new Scholarship Guide for students interested in applying for scholarships.  Students may simply log on the Financial Aid web site at and print a copy of the guide which includes scholarship web sites and tips on writing personal essays and resumes.

Beginning in January, the Financial Aid Office will send emails to students notifying them that SCHOLARSHIP MANAGER is open for applications. Students must submit the completed application along with any required personal statements and letters of recommendation prior to the March 1 deadline to be considered for scholarships at Hawaii Community College.

Also in January, students should start completing the FAFSA for the 2011-12 academic year.  All required documents to complete the Financial Aid application must be received by the April 1 priority deadline.  Meeting this priority deadline helps students to receive their award notification earlier and to be considered for any available federal and state grant money.

The Financial Aid Office will continue to host workshops on completing the FAFSA and applying to SCHOLARSHIP MANAGER.  Students should check emails regularly, log on the Financial Aid Office web site or call 974-7663 for more information
