Laurel Gregory, Associate Professor/Librarian – UH Center at West Hawaiʻi

Degrees – B.A, M.L.S. – University of WashingtonLaurel Gregory

My hometown: Vancouver, Washington

My favorite thing about HawCC… is the fact that community colleges are for everybody. They give people a chance to get started or start over and re-invent their lives one step at a time.  I am so impressed with how our students overcome obstacles and balance the demands and responsibilities of their lives to reach their goals

My hobbies and interest are … reading, walking, snorkeling and swimming in the ocean, and volunteering for an animal welfare group called AdvoCats.

If you came to visit my office you would be see… kind of a mess, but also my beautiful passionate plum wall!

I like the Big Island because …  the weather is perfect and there are a lot of kind, generous, and community minded people who live here.  I have never lived somewhere like Kona where just about everyone you meed is involved in some sort of volunteer activity, depending on their own interests and time.

In my free time I like to… read murder mysteries of all sorts, walk, swim, enjoy friends, visit my nieces and their kids in Vancouver, and take care of my AdvoCats kitty colonies.
