The University of Hawaiʻi System President, M.R.C. Greenwood, returned to Hilo on February 3, 2011 for an official visit. She was greeted with a kīpaepae ceremony in celebration of our community known as Hilo. At the cemented outcropping of Liliʻuokolani Gardens, overlooking the broad expanse of Hilo, the collective and representative populations of the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo and Hawaiʻi Community College campuses celebrated the uniqueness of our community at large through chant, song, and story. We revisited the very elements that over the centuries have continually defined the pulsing culture of this land.
