John Evans White Knight Essay Placed 3rd Place

John Evans PhotoOn March, 25 2011, John Evans, a student of Hawaii Community College’s Information Technology program, was formally recognized by the Hilo Rotary Club for his submission in the club’s essay contest for the month of March. Applicants were entrusted with the task of composing a short essay explaining how the four Rotarian Principles apply to his or her career path. Of the seven submissions, Evans received third place for his submission entitled “White Knight”, and was awarded a fifty-dollar check as well as a certificate of recognition. White Knight details the importance of ethical standards in Information Technology, characterizing IT professionals as the great protectors of the community who guard against the constant onslaught of threats, both inside and outside of an organization. Evans will graduate this Spring and intends to further his education by transferring into UH Hilo’s Computer Science program.
