Aloha Kauhale Kākou,
Continuing the thread on the college experience as a rite of passage, we arrive at the final leg of a four-part rite of passage, the Hō`ina. Hō`ina, to return to community, is Commencement. When the tassel is moved from right to left, this is an ancient and sacred gesture signifying a departure from the college as a Transformed member back into our community at large, to integrate the transformative college experience into the building of an informed life style.
Do come to commencement 2011 and live again the moment when we ourselves moved the tassel from the right to the left. Contribute to the celebration of our learner successes here at our Kauhale, at Hawai`i Community College. Their success is our success. Happy 70th to all!
