New VOIP Telephone System

By: Bill AffonsoVOIP Telephone System

On October 1, 2011, after over a year of planning, HawCC activated a new Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) Phone System for the College.  As the title states, this phone system utilizes the internet for its operation.

This is a UH System wide project.  Windward CC and Maui CC were activated before HawCC.  The other Community College campuses will follow in the coming weeks.

This new system replaces the old Hawaiian Tel wire phone system installed in the 1950’s. This was a joint UH IT, Hawaiian Tel, UHCC, and HawCC Project.  The HawCC Academic Computing Unit (ACU) spent many man hours wiring the campus to be ready for the  October 1, “go live” date.  The activation went extremely well.  Thanks for your cooperation as we clean up the few bugs that remain.
