On April 27, 2012, Chancellor Noreen Yamane invited Hawaii Community College to participate in the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategies (CEDS) Conference.

The goal of the CEDS Conference was to develop stronger relationships between faculty, staff, administrators, industry leaders, and Hawaii Community College advisory groups. Everyone was able to exchange ideas and participate in facilitated discussions in the areas of Healthcare, Agriculture, Energy, and Science and Technology.

Hawaii Community College welcomed four industry panelists who presented their perspectives. Presenters included Eric Tanouye, Vice President and General Manager of Green Point Nurseries, Maurice Kaya, Project Director Pacific International Center for High Technology Research Hawaii Renewable Energy Dev. Venture, Sharon Vitousek, Director of North Hawaii Outcomes Project, and Rae Loul, Vice President of Operations AECOM.
