HawCC Warning Notices
HawCC Campus Security is now tracking all HawCC Warning notices that are issued. Repeat offenders will be issued a warning memo. A memo for student three-peaters will be sent to the VC for Student Affairs for necessary action. A memo for faculty/staff three-peaters will be sent to their respective supervisor.
ALERT
Separate thefts of a wallet and a cell phone that were left un-attended occurred when the owners went to the restroom for “only” a minute. PLEASE, if you value your property, take it with you. Do not leave it un-attended.
Handicap Parking
Every month, Hilo Police Department issues handicap violation tickets on the HawCC campus. In the past couple of months, Hilo Police Department issued 2 handicap violation tickets. Maximum fine of $500. Please respect the handicap stalls. Stalls are for valid/approved handicap individuals. The handicap tag must be displayed at all times. If you are parked in a handicap stall AND you do not have a handicap tag prominently displayed, Hawaii Police Department will cite you. These handicap tags are not transferrable. Also, you may be asked to show your handicap pocket card. If you cannot provide the pocket card, your vehicle will be reported to Hawaii Police Department.
Red Boxes on Floors
POM Maintenance has started to tape red boxes on the floor in front of areas that require clearance and immediate access. These areas include, but are not limited to, circuit breaker panels, fire extinguishers, fire alarm pull boxes, fire alarm panels, and data/phone equipment.
RECYCLE BATTERIES: Boxes/receptacles to recycle used/dead batteries have been placed at the following locations. 379-at the South East corner outside of room 15. 393-between the men’s and women’s restrooms. 381-next to bulletin board outside of room 8. 389-outside of the POM office room 7. Also, if you tape dead batteries together, mark the dead batteries and place them on the floor next to the trash can in your room/office, the janitors will pick them up and dispose of them properly.
WE STILL NEED YOUR KOKUA
BLOCKING SAFETY DEVICES: It is against safety regulations to block any safety devices. This includes but is not limited to fire extinguishers, fire alarm pull boxes, circuit breaker panels, etc.
Electricity Consumption!!
Please turn off PC’s, Monitors & printers when you leave for the day. PC’s, monitors & printers in the sleep mode still consumes electricity.
Our biggest expense continues to be our electricity bill. Keep doors and windows closed when the AC is on. Keep your thermostat at 74 degrees. Turn off lights when you leave the room.
HELCO has applied to the PUC for a rate increase. So whatever we save will help us stay within our budget.
NO SMOKING: Smoking is not allowed within 20 feet of building entrances and open windows.
Cigarette Butts: Janitors and Grounds keepers continue to spend a lot of time picking up cigarette butts to ensure that our campus does not resemble an ash tray. This is a waste of our campus resources. Please put your cigarette butts in designated smoking receptacles.

PETS ON CAMPUS: Pets are not allowed on campus! Only certified/valid guide/aide pets are allowed on campus. Your co-operation will be appreciated.
FLYERS ON WALLS: Putting/taping any type of flyers on building walls is not permitted. The removal of the flyers pulls the paint off and makes the walls unsightly. This also creates un-necessary additional work for the Maintenance crew and consumes much needed material.
SKATEBOARDING, ROLLERBLADING & BICYCLES: Skateboarding and rollerblading are not allowed on campus! Do not ride your bicycles on the walkways and sidewalks.
