Hawaii Community College students pose with the truckloads of trash they picked up last month from an area near the top of Waikoloa Road.

Hawai’i Community College students in Kumu E. Kalani Flores’ Hawai’i Island Trail Culture class in West Hawai’i made a difference on Saturday, Oct. 27 by picking up two truckloads of rubbish near the top of Waikoloa Road.

This was done in coordination with many other individuals and organizations in numerous communities as part of Make a Difference Day.

“Perhaps individuals would not dump their trash in this area if Aloha ‘Aina, having love and respect for the land, would be demonstrated every day,” said Kumu Flores.
