Nursing students start clinical studies

First year Associate of Science in Nursing students at the University of Hawai’i Center at West Hawaii had their first day of clinical at Kona Community Hospital on Oct. 9.

Students will be assessing patients, caring for patients, and administering medications while under the supervision of their clinical faculty person. It will be a very busy and challenging semester for these students as they acclimate to the hospital setting and perform patient care.

So if you happen to be at Kona Community Hospital and you see a student wearing a maroon uniform with a Hawaii Community College patch on the arm, give them an encouraging smile while knowing that patients are in good hands.
