Two Hawai‘i Community College faculty members will help promote international education as members of the regional team for NAFSA: Association of International Educators.
Violet Murakami, a Digital Media Arts professor, and Carrie Mospens, an English instructor, have been chosen to serve as members of NAFSA’s Hawaii/Pacific District Team for 2013.
NAFSA is a national organization that promotes international education. It was founded in 1948 and has district groups for different regions.
Sherri Fujita, coordinator of HawCC’s Intensive English Program, served as an officer on the team for the past two years.
“My tenure is up, but I wanted me make sure there was community college and neighbor island representation,” Fujita wrote in an email. “I asked for volunteers from the campus International Education Committee and I got two, Violet Murakami and Carrie Mospens. They were both voted in to serve!”
