Hawai’i Community College culinary students and top Hawai’i chefs alike came together last month for an event that raised money for local culinary scholarships and for Hawai’i Community College — Pālamanui, a new campus planned at a site near the Keahole Airport.

The 24th Annual “Christmas at the Fairmont — Dining with the Chefs” event took place Dec. 8, and North Hawaii News covered the event.

HawCC students said they view the event as a chance to work next to experienced chefs. The students built gingerbread houses that included “candy Santas in surf shorts and whimsical elves napping on canoe paddles, all nestled on cookie crumb ‘sand,’” according to the North Hawaii News article.

The event raises money for culinary scholarships as well as to help outfit the kitchen at Hawai’i Community College — Pālamanui.
