Faculty, friends help Lea Nordloh celebrate retirement

Hawai’i Community College Assistant Professor Lea Nordloh celebrates her retirement December 6th.

Nursing faculty and friends attended a retirement dinner for Assistant Professor Lea Nordloh on December 6th.

Lea began teaching at Hawai‘i Community College in 1988. Throughout her years at HawCC, she instructed Associate of Science in Nursing first-year and second-year students as well as Practical Nursing students. She also taught Nurse Aid students and Adult Residential Care Home students.

One former ADN student claimed, “Although Lea was a very strict instructor, the students all wanted Lea as a teacher because whoever she taught, they learned a lot. Lea was an excellent nurse clinician and teacher.”

Described as “feisty, playful, happy, industrious and awesome” by fellow nursing faculty, Lea was well connected to the care home operators across the state of Hawai’i.

She loves to laugh, travel, and work in her garden. She likes to coordinate her attire, often wearing purple with matching shoes, purse, and earrings.

Lea will certainly be missed at the Division of Nursing and Allied Health!
