HawCC culinary grad wins Food Network competition

Hawai‘i Community College graduate Royden Ellamar, executive chef at Sensi restaurant in the Bellagio hotel and casino in Las Vegas, won a showdown against three other chefs on the popular Food Network program “Chopped,” the Hawaii Tribune-Herald reported in its February 9 edition. 

Ellamar, 38, is a Hilo native who began his culinary career at age 15 at Ken’s House of Pancakes, and he is a graduate of HawCC’s Culinary Arts Program.

Ellamar received $10,000 for his victory on the show, according to the Tribune-Herald. The program will air again on Tuesday, March 5.
