Phi Theta Kappa members win awards for service

Hawai‘i Community College’s Alpha Psi Epsilon Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society recently attended the Pacific Regional Convention held at Kapi‘olani Community College where they received awards for service completed in the 2013 calendar year.

These awards included: Five Star Chapter Status, College Project Award, Honors In Action: Theme 6 Award and Distinguished Chapter Officer Team. Individual awards received included: Distinguished Pacific Regional Officer to Michael Breitwish Sr., Pacific Regional Coordinator’s Advisor Award to Kenoalani Dela Cruz and Paragon Advisor Award to Donala Kawa’auhau.

Conference attendees learned more about Phi Theta Kappa’s 2014-2016 Honors Study Topic, “Frontiers and the Spirit of Exploration” and about Phi Theta Kappa’s various programs and initiatives.  They worked in seminar groups, listened to a couple of speakers and competed in the Annual Pineapple Bowl.

Keynote Speaker Kenoalani Dela Cruz spoke on her Faculty Scholar experiences visiting the British Virgin Islands in her presentation “From Hawai‘i to Tortola: Exploration, Discovery and Inspiration.”  She is serving a second year as a Phi Theta Kappa Faculty Scholar.
