Guidelines for Registration for the rest of Spring 2012

Message from Dorinna Manuel-Cortez, Admissions Officer

1. The last day to receive a 100% refund for dropping a semester-length (runs for the entire semester) class was Friday, January 13, 2012.  From this point on, registration changes may result in a financial obligation to the student’s account.  Part-term (starts/stops within the semester) classes have different refund schedules.  The refund schedules for part-term classes may be found by going to “Check Class Availability” and clicking on the CRN for each class.

2.The last day to receive a 50% refund for dropping a semester-length class is Monday, January 30, 2012.  This is also the last day of the “erase” period for semester-length classes.  During the erase period, classes that are dropped will not be recorded on the student’s academic record.

3.After Monday, January 30, 2012, the last day to drop a semester-length class is Monday, April 2, 2012.  The dropped class will be recorded on the student’s academic record with a “W” and will not affect the student’s GPA.

4.CLASSES MAY BE DROPPED ONLINE provided the class to be dropped is not the student’s last class at his/her home institution.  To drop the last class, the student must submit a Complete Withdrawal Form to the Admissions & Registration Office.  The form may be downloaded at http://www.hawaii.hawaii.edu/admissions/forms.php or obtained at the Admissions & Registration Office in Hilo or the Student Services Office in Kealakekua.

5.CLASSES MUST BE ADDED MANUALLY by submitting a completed Add/Drop Form to the Admissions & Registration Office in Hilo or the Student Services Office in Kealakekua.  The Add/Drop form MUST have been signed by the instructor of the class within two weeks of submission.  Any required registration overrides should be inputted by the instructor BEFORE the student submits the Add/Drop Form.

6.A student receiving Financial Aid should check with the Financial Aid Office to determine if his/her financial aid award will be affected by registration changes.

Please direct any questions to the Admissions & Registration Office at (808) 934-2710.
