Dore Minatodani, UH Manoa Library’s Hawaiian Collection Senior Librarian, enabled the Hawaii Series’ digitization:
The bibliographies are dated, but still very useful as starting points across many frequently researched topics (politics, economics, labor, health care, etc.), and are especially useful for research on inter-ethnic and social relations, and acculturation. With the exception of the volume on the Koreans, the indexing is excellent.
Personally I find it much easier to use these in paper format, and was driven to digitize them only to help researchers who are not in Hawaii or who do not have access to them, because yes I refer people to them that often.
We thank the UHM Social Science Research Institute for permission to digitize, and many many people within Hamilton Library who worked on the details, large and small, to make this happen.
