I attended the Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE) holiday event on December 6, where I spoke about my personal journey as a single mother working toward my PhD.
My talk also included my research experiences and the time I spent as associate director for science for the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, and as consultant for the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy under President Bill Clinton. During that time, I helped author Science in the National Interest.
I hope my story was inspiring and motivating for women like Crystal Souza (pictured above), a UH Hilo student who is a single mother of five. Crystal will be graduating soon and we applaud her as she continues on her journey.
