A delegation from Mumbai University and the Indian state of Maharashtra is visiting the University of Hawaiʻi this week to follow up on previous discussions on the development of community colleges in Mumbai.
The delegation is especially interested in UH’s system model of higher education that includes two to four year institutions. The University of Mumbai is also interested in tourism and hospitality as an area of interest.
The delegation started with a discussion at UH Mānoa this morning. It included Juanita Liu, dean of our School of Travel Industry Management. I joined the group for lunch before our Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs Linda Johnsrud made a presentation on the UH System.
The University of Mumbai has 650,000 undergraduate students and more than 14,000 post graduate students at 667 affiliated colleges. The university has 103 research institutes/industry research centers.
