Every semester we take the ASH students up the Diamond Head crater trail, and I never get tired of the trek or the fantastic views at the top. Once you emerge from the bunker (that was used by the military to look for enemy ships), beauty floods your senses. I can’t say it another way! This semester a rainbow sprang out over the sky. It was perfect.
The Admissions Office of the University of Hawaii has rolled out a “Make Manoa Yours” video, which is a compilation of entries from the 2016 #MakeManoaYours contest. In this contest UH Mānoa students were invited to explain in a 15-second video how they made their Mānoa experience unique.
The grand prize winner, Shidler College of Business marketing and management major Czarina Caberto, received a $1,000 scholarship.
We invite you to come to UHM and #makemanoayours for a semester! It will be an unforgettable experience and a study-away adventure like no other!
Hiking in Hawaii is wonderful! Our group Diamond Head hike is a trek to a World War II bunker, which includes climbs up cement stairways, a walk through a dimly lit tunnel, and another climb up a metal spiral staircase. At the top you crawl through the slim opening where service personnel would keep watch on the Pacific Ocean for enemy approaches. At the top you are rewarded with gorgeous views down to the park, into the crater, across the rim of the island, over the blue ocean, and back up to the mountains. Wish you were here!
We’re eagerly waiting for our fall 2016 students to arrive in August! Madbury, Bonesha, Alessia, Taylor, Sophia, and Daniel are busy enjoying summertime right now, but soon they will board a plane and fly to our chain of islands in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. There’s a lot of adventure in the near future! Check back later in the semester to see what they’ve been up to!
