Aloha SLS ‘Ohana,

The Fall 2017 SLS Retreat will take place this September 16th at White Plains Beach. With the date on the horizon, we want to notify you of important information regarding the retreat. We ask that you read this email in its entirety to be well informed and prepared for this annual event!


Everyone attending the SLS Retreat must RSVP by Monday, September 2th so that the SLSSA Planning Committee can finalize all food and transportation arrangements before the date of the retreat. Please complete the following form to RSVP for this event.

Fees for SLS Retreat

In order to provide the best experience possible at all of our SLSSA events, it is essential that we include a fee to offset the costs of each event. The SLS Retreat is the only event for which SLSSA Members pay a fee, which comes at a discounted rate. Please see fee options below. The Fall 2017 SLS Retreat Fee can be paid when boarding the SLS Bus or upon arriving at the Retreat location. All payments must be made with cash or check (checks must be made out to SLSSA).

  • Faculty/Staff + Family: Free

  • SLS Grad Student, SLSSA Member ($10)

  • SLS Grad Student, Non SLSSA Member ($15)

  • Friends of SLS ($15)

SLSSA Auction

We encourage every member of the SLS Community to submit an auction item. Remember, the more auction items we have, the more money we can fundraise for our departmental research and travel grants. Please complete the following form with information of your auction items. You can find suggestions and guidelines for the auction by clicking here.

This year, SLSSA is requesting that all auction items be paid for following the conclusion of the auction. Therefore, you must bring your check books or cash to pay for auction items you buy.

SLS Retreat Itinerary and Transportation

Transportation on bus is optional and will be provided for all attendees. The bus will leave Moore Hall at 9:00 AM. All wishing to make use of this option will return to Moore Hall at around 6:00 PM, following the conclusion of the SLS Retreat. Individuals may also opt for driving their own cars to and from the retreat location. A map to the site will be coming soon.
