Dear Sir,
Greetings!
I am Dr. Devibala Kelur Govindarajan from India. I have done my MBBS(Medicine) and MD(Pharmacology) from Kilpauk Medical College and Stanley Medical College respectively (The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University). Presently, I am working as Assistant Professor of Pharmacology in ACS Medical College, Chennai.
I am passionate about pharmacology and my area of interests include Neuropharmacology, Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Pharmacology. I have done a research work titled, ‘Evaluation of the role of Vitamin C in patients with bronchial asthma’. The purpose of this study is to determine the pathophysiological role of oxidative stress in bronchial asthma and the usefulness of antioxidant therapy using Vitamin C in patients with chronic bronchial asthma. This research work has been published in international Journal of Institutional Pharmacy and Life sciences in august 2012 I get intellectual pleasure from articulating a new idea, critically analyzing the reason behind it and redefining the problem from fresh insights. Currently I am working on a project titled, ‘Efficacy of ascorbic acid as a supplement to the standard anti-hypertensive regimen in the reduction of blood pressure and C-reactive protein levels’.
Experimental pharmacology formed an integral part of my postgraduate curriculum which provided me the fundamental knowledge on subjects ranging from laboratory animals and methodology, to statistical analysis and interpretation of results. I am now trained and proficient in numerous experimental techniques with emphasis on pharmacological screening methods, which form an integral part of drug discovery.
Today I wish to undertake doctoral study and devote all my energies to research. I was going through the research work in your university and I was intrigued by the fascinating work carried out by your faculties and the new opportunities that your laboratories are providing. As a doctor, I know how drugs of today work, but I am keen to learn how novel therapeutics of tomorrow can be developed and the key to this lock is the graduate study in Pharmacology . I am very keen on pursuing my graduate study (PhD in Pharmacology) in your esteemed institute. I would be pleased if you can answer to my following specific queries.
1. Am I eligible for admission to PhD program in Biomedical Science with specialization in Pharmacology ? If so, what is the procedure for the same?
2. How many international students are recruited every year?
Kindly advise me in this regard.
I am sending my scores for your reference.
