The medical school’s Dr. Kathryn Braun, Professor of Public Health and Social Work, is one of 24 women being recognized by the Honolulu Commission on the Status of Women. Inspiring Women”, an exhibit at Honolulu Hale, features Dr. Braun’s photograph and a description of her achievements The proclamation honoring Dr. Braun reads, “Kathryn Braun is known for her dedication to mentoring and empowering others, especially Native Hawaiians; promoting greater numbers of minorities in cancer research, and for her pioneering leadership in the field of gerontology. With the attitude that “everything is possible”, she approaches her work with profound respect for culture, never imposing her values on those she mentors, and with positive, uplifting, and seemingly boundless energy …”
At the end of the ceremonies on March 21, Kathryn’s proud husband, Chris Conybeare reported that “she had so many lei that you almost couldn’t see her.” The accompanying photo was taken as the ceremony got underway.
