In the news: Cell & Molecular Biology’s REBECCA CANN’s work with birds

In 1987, working in California, Rebecca Cann and her colleagues gained widespread attention for identifying an ancestral mother of all living humans. The past few decades, Cann, a faculty member in the Department of Cell & Molecular Biology at the John A. Burns School of Medicine, has been teaming with University of Hawai’i Manoa Zoology professor Leonard Freed to learn why populations of Hawai’i’s precious native birds, especially on Hawai’i Island, are dwindling.
