The University of Hawai`i John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) has begun a search for a senior faculty position within the Department of Surgery. The medical school’s hope is that this recruitment may lead to an appointment as Department Chair. The desired appointee will provide leadership and mentorship to the Department of Surgery faculty and staff while building a network of relationships at the School of Medicine, University Clinics and community practitioners.
It is envisioned that the selected individual will create an environment supportive of clinical, education, and research missions of the University of Hawai`i at Mānoa and JABSOM. In addition, this faculty member will be responsible for advancing the strategic goals of JABSOM and the University of Hawai`i at Mānoa by continuing to develop and strengthen medical student performance while creating opportunities to continue their graduate medical education in Hawai`i. He/she will further the goals of JABSOM by participating in the continued evolution of the innovative Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach to learning surgery.
