UH MĀNOA holds workshop for high school counselors at medical school

The John A. Burns School of Medicine hosted the UH Mānoa 2013 High School Counselors Workshop. The attendees were greeted with breakfast and an academic & student services fair before breaking out into several sessions. These sessions, designed to teach high school counselors about the admissions process to UH Mānoa and help them encourage Hawai’i’s youth to attend the University, included:

  • The First Year Experience: A Research Based Approach for Helping Students Succeed at UHM, Presented by Kyle Van Duser, Director of First Year Programs
  • The Engineering ‘Ohana – An Overview of the College of Engineering, Presented by Dr. Myhraliza Aala, STEM Marketing & Public Affairs Officer and the Engineering Student Ambassadors
  • UH Undocumented Student Policy, Presented by Amy Agbayani, Director of SEED; Steve Rola, Admissions Officer; Clem Bautista, Director of Office of Multicultural Student Services
  • Athletics Initial Eligibility & Recruiting, Presented by Stacey Price, Student Affairs Director for Intercollegiate Athletics
  • JABSOM Informational Meeting, Presented by Ivy Asano, Director of Admissions of the John A. Burns School of Medicine
  • Admissions 101, Presented by Ryan Yamaguchi, Assistant Director of Admissions
  • Financial Aid 101, Presented by Jodie Kuba, Financial Aid Services Director
