The Curb began food services in the cafeteria at the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) in Kaka`ako on Monday, 12/23/13, in the space that had housed “Kūlia Grill” for the past eight years. The new eatery is offering the public longer hours. It will accept credit cards, have a full-service coffee and beverage station and its own pastry chef baking scones, bread and other goodies. Also on the menu are a sandwich bar and hot entrees a la carte. Hours of operation will be 7 am-6 pm Monday-Friday. The cafe likely will add weekend hours in February.
Coffee, smoothies, food, credit cards & longer hours part of the appeal.”
The Curb operates a location at UH Mānoa in the Paradise Palm center. Its chef is Neale Asato, most recently from the Vintage Cave at Ala Moana.
A Hawaiian name for the new location was selected in December from among entries submitted in a naming contest at JABSOM. The winning entry was “Cafe Waiola at The Curb.” Read more about it at CAFE WAIOLA.
Kūlia Grill, operated by Kapi`olani Community College, ended operations on December 13. The college is consolidating its food services on its Diamond Head campus.
Our thanks to JABSOM Special Events Manager Melia Young for the “scoop” about the new eatery.
