The JABSOM Mentoring Program (JMP) is having a bake sale fundraiser on Friday, February 7th, and the students would really like your support.
You can also get involved by donating baked goods for the fundraiser or donating cash for the students to buy yummy baked treats. The bake sale goes from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the LOBBY of the Medical Education Building.
Christine Chan, MS2, a member of the JMP Planning Committee explains, “The events JMP sponsors help to facilitate communication and community between each of the four classes of medical students. I really appreciate the mentorship I’ve received from upperclassmen through JMP and am thankful for the opportunity to pay it forward.”
Kathleen Min, MS2, also a member of the JMP Planning Committee, said, “JMP is a program that engenders camaraderie among students of different classes, creating ties between the classes, and strengthening our student body as a whole.”
Some events sponsored and organized by JMP include: student Q&A panels on different aspects of med school and “mock exam” experiences to help prepare for finals. Many of these events are aimed at helping the incoming MS-1 (first-year medical students) class become adjusted to the JABSOM system, and to life as a med-student in general. The mentorship provided by this program enriches the learning, and overall student-experience, here at JABSOM.
