MEETING: Western Group on Educational Affairs Regional Meeting HERE March 23 – 25

The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) 2014 Western Group on Educational Affairs (WGEA) Regional Meeting will be hosted by the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) this year from March 23 – 25, 2014.

On March 23, the WGEA Regional Meeting kicks off at the Ala Moana Hotel. On March 24 and 25, the meeting moves to the John A. Burns School of Medicine’s Kaka’ako campus.

The WGEA represents individuals with professional responsibilities in medical student, resident and continuing education in the Western region of the AAMC.  It strives to promote excellence in the continuum of medical education by fostering the professional development of medical educators and advancing research in medical education.
The theme for the Honolulu WGEA Regional Meeting is : “A SLICE of Paradise: Accreditation Standards Leading Innovation and Creativity in Education. A SLICE stands for:

The National Plenary Speaker is Dan Hunt, MD, MBA, Co-Secretary to the Liaison Committee on Medical Education, Senior Director, Accreditation Services, AAMC.

The AAMC’s mission is to serve and lead the academic medicine community to improve the health of all.  Based in Washington, D.C., the AAMC is a not-for-profit association representing all 141 accredited U.S. and 17 accredited Canadian medical schools, nearly 400 major teaching hospitals and health systems, and 90 academic and scientific societies.
