VIDEO: McNairy to MD Graduates: “Continue to Hold Fast to Your DREAMS”

The John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) Convocation 2014 Keynote Speaker was Sidney McNairy, Ph.D. “I was drawn to the University of Hawai`i medical school,” he said, recalling his early efforts to support research infrastructure at JABSOM when he served at the highest levels of the National Institutes of Health. “I grew up in a house without many books, in fact my house was in the government projects,” McNairy said. JABSOM graduates, too, come from modest means. The median family income of our MD students is the lowest among medical schools in the United States. It’s no wonder the attention of our new physicians to McNairy’s message never wavered. Our video is edited by UH Student Journalist Jeremy Nitta. In addition to Dr. McNairy’s video, note we have related video links, below.
