All too often in sports today, we see players getting helped off the field after being knocked out with a concussion. These injuries are frightening, as both short-term and long-term effects are being exposed by researchers. But what do we really know about concussions, and how much have we actually learned from all the studies being done on it? At the John A. Burns School of Medicine, a pair of certified athletic trainers from the Hawai`i Athletic Trainers’ Association came to share their knowledge with trauma team members about these head-related injuries.
In our embedded video, UH Med student journalist Jeremy Nitta talks with certified athletic trainers Ross Oshiro and Sam Lee about concussions and the ongoing battle against them. Watch the video directly at UH MED VIMEO.
