More than 300 MD alumni and their families (kids of all ages and sizes) came from the mainland, neighbor islands and all over O’ahu to attend RECONNECT 2014, The John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) MD Alumni Reunion on July 26 at the Honolulu Zoo.
Guided zoo tours, a shave ice reception and animal mask and puppet-making activities for the keiki highlighted the festivities. JABSOM’s favorite band, Soul Patrol – comprised of Donald Taylor and JABSOM alumni Dr. Ravi Reddy and Dr. Kelley Yim— rocked the zoo stage during the clam bake dinner. Take a peek at the fun by clicking directly to Arnold Kameda’s photos at UH MED FLICKR.
Many alumni also made time to attend the Saturday morning Continuing Medical Education (CME) organized and presented by the 25th anniversary MD Class of 1989. Participants earned up to 3.5 CME credits and heard “Specialty Updates for the Non-Specialist” from six different anniversary class speakers. Thanks to generous corporate support from The Doctors Company, Hawai’i Pacific Health and The Queen’s Medical Center, the CME was offered for free.
For all the fun, though, RECONNECT 2014 was just a prelude to the main event – JABSOM’S 50th Anniversary Celebration next year. Mark your calendar now for the weekend of July 17 and 18, 2015. You’ll want to be here for White Coat Ceremony and Alumni Reception on Friday evening, the educational forum being planned right now by JABSOM alums and the black-tie Gala at the Sheraton Waikiki on Saturday.
Invitations will be in the mail in January, but you may reserve your table or seats now by contacting Elaine Evans at firstname.lastname@example.org or 808-692-0991.
A warm mahalo to all our RECONNECT 2014 sponsors.
