Symposium to Improve Dementia Care and Research in Hawai`i and the Pacific Rim at the Hilton’s Coral Ballroom
Our featured keynote speaker will be world renowned neurologist and scientist Marsel Mesulam, M.D., Director of Northwestern University Alzheimer’s Disease Center (ADC), Steering Committee Member of the ADCS (NIH/NIA-funded ADCs) and Advisory Member to Hawai`i Alzheimer’s Disease Center. Dr. Mesulam will be joined by two University of Hawai’i Department Chairs: Kamal Masaki, M.D., Professor and Chair, Department of Geriatrics, University of Hawai’i JABSOM and Colette Browne, Dr.P.H., M.S.W., Professor and Chair, Gerontology Concentration, Myron B. Thompson School of Social Work, Principal Investigator, Ha Kupuna, National Resource Center for Native Hawaiian Elders, University of Hawai`i at Manoa.
All physicians, health and social science professionals and researchers in the state of Hawaii and the Pacific Rim region involved in the care of patients with dementia or related conditions will be invited to attend. The symposium will provide a platform to bring clinicians, researchers, government agencies, health and social science professionals and other stakeholders together to raise awareness of the challenges facing consumers and to brainstorm innovative methods to tackle these challenges.
