The John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) celebrates 40 years of success for the `Imi Ho`ola (“Those who seek to heal”) Post-Baccalaureate Program with a dinner at the Wai`alae Country Club.
`Imi has produced 234 physicians in its 4 decades, by seeking out college graduates from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds or communities who have the potential and desire to enter medicine. Each class which competes the challenging one-year premed course is automatically enrolled into JABSOM’s next MD class.
Our photograph is of the most recent graduates of the `Imi program, who are entering medical school with JABSOM’s Class of 2017 this fall.
