HawCC students, faculty and staff show school spirit at 2013 Hilo Heartwalk

Hawai’i Community College was well represented at the Hilo Heart Walk on March 2 on downtown Hilo.

Our Culinary Arts Program had a large crew there, with about half the students dishing out heart-healthy snacks and half the students enthusiastically making the walk from Lili’oukalani Park and Gardens to the Singing Bridge and back.

Students from HawCC’s Human Services Program volunteered during the event, and  a handful of faculty and staff participated in the walk. In addition, students from the Nursing & Allied Health Program set up a booth where they took attendees’ blood pressure.

Along with walking to show support for the work of the American Heart Association, HawCC faculty and staffed raised and donated a total of $1,200!

A big mahalo to everyone who participated!
