Haʻakūmalae is the official orchestration of the Hawaiʻi protocols leadership at Hawaiʻi Community College and the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo. As an active member at our Hawaiʻi Community College and in the Hawaiʻi Island Community there are many opportunities and events for engagement in these activities.

Yurihama Cultural Exchange 2015 Japan
Unukupukupu has been fortunate to be invited to return to Yurihama: Tottori Prefecture, Japan for their 2015 Annual Hawaii Festival as participatory delegates and performers from Hawaiʻi. This week long event encourages the growth and sharing of hula, music & the culture of Hawaiʻi with Japan and its people. An event embraced and enjoyed by Japanese from far and wide.

Hawaiʻi Conservation Conference 2015 – Kīpaepae Welina & Cultural Protocol Orientations
All conference attendees were invited to participate in the Kīpaepae Kā Mauli Kuauli, the official opening ceremony of the 23rd Annual Hawaiʻi Conservation Conference. The theme, “Kā Mauli Kuauli”, was a common thread thru the week where cultural protocol training workshops and a Haʻakūmalae booth provided resources for participants to learn about this process and participate in the final closing ceremony of the week.

Hawaiʻi Life Styles 2015 Welina
An annual event that celebrates the upcoming academic journey that the Hawaiʻi Life Styles Program faculty, staff, & students will begin together. This event starts with a kīpaepae welina and culminating with a program orientation, meet & greet with the faculty & staff of I Ola Hāloa sharing of a meal together.

Hawaiʻi Community College Leadership Champions 2015
Please join us to welcome the Hawaii Community College Leadership Champions on Friday, September 11, 2015, at 9:00 am. The current and next generation of leaders representing all seven campuses and the UH system office will be here for their monthly meeting. The mission of the University of Hawai’i Community Colleges Leadership Champions (CCLC) is to identify, encourage, develop, and support the next generation of community college leadership. The meeting will be hosted by our campus and facilitated by KauaiCC Chancellor Helen Cox.

Wo Learning Champions
Please join us to welcome the Wo Learning Champions on Friday, September 18, 2015, at 10:00 am. The Wo Learning Champions initiative focuses on professional development for faculty and staff in Hawai‘i’s two-year institutions. The group will then visit with various programs on campus and will experience the wahi pana of Hilo.
