Over 60 Early Childhood Education (ECE) students, alumni, and community members joined the ECE faculty and staff on Saturday, April 9 for their third annual ECE conference, which provides an opportunity for fellowship, community building and professional development. The conference was held on the Manono Campus in the ECE facility and attracted ECE students, Family Home Care Providers, Preschool Teachers, Parents, and more to a morning of workshops embracing the conference theme of “Creative Expressions.”

Eva Moravcik, an ECE faculty member from Honolulu Community College, shared “Music and Movement All the Live Long Day.” Trina Nahm-Mijo, from Hawai’i CC, brought her expertise with “Sand Play for Well-Being.” And the Children’s Center’s own teachers, Bernie Pavao and Channel Babagay, presented “Creative Dramatics and Storytelling.”

As part of an Advocacy Project for their practicum class, ECE students, under the direction of the ECE instructors, constructed and distributed flyers, assisted with logistics, and manned registration. It was a day of learning, fun, and networking with donations of morning refreshments and hand decorated bags with books and “goodies” as door prizes.

A good time was had by all!
